My name is Brandie Freeman, and I am beginning my 14th year in education this fall. I have a bachelor's, master's and specialist degree in science teaching, and I have taught chemistry for the last decade at all levels, including on-level, honors, and AP.
I love learning and trying new and engaging instructional strategies that help my students increase their confidence, ability to communicate with others, and critical thinking skills. I strive to create a classroom environment that is both inviting and challenging where students feel safe taking risks and being themselves.
I am passionate about what I do, and I often share and learn from others by teaching workshops, presenting at conferences and leading webinars. I am the former Bartow County Teacher of the Year, Georgia High School Science Teacher of the Year, and a National Science Teachers Association STEM Educator Awardee and have secured over $30,000 in grants for my students during my career.
I have two sons, Will (13) and Charlie (6), and my husband and I are raising them on a small farm in Hiram. We enjoy kayaking, gardening, and tending to our chickens. For fun, I also teach and practice yoga and am a freelance writer and blogger.
